This is a tutorial on how to make a Christmas Lariat Wreath. First step: Find a used lariat. That's easy for me since I live in the middle of cowboy country! A zip tie at the top secures the rope. Tuck the tail into the rope strands. The ribbon was for a hanger, but in the end, I used wire. Some may want to use this idea. This is an old swag from my mother's decorations. I decided not to go this route. Wrap about 3 foot of garland  at the top. This provides fullness and a place to stick greenery. Stick in greenery. Add a bow. There are lots of videos on the internet on how to construct a bow. I used a pipe cleaner to attach. I attached red ball ornaments with wire. This would be complete unless you wanted to add a horseshoe. One idea is to use a glue gun to wrap ribbon and include a horseshoe. I chose to attach a horseshoe with a pipe cleaner. I tied on a bow, or you could glue it. The size of this wreath is 21 inches across. Have fun making your wreath! Merry Christmas!  

Making wreaths for Christmas is easy and fun! I used our 12" metal Star in Ring and an 18" grapevine wreath. Nothing says rustic and natural like a grapevine wreath. I wired the star to the wreath and made a bow and wired it on at the bottom. I added pieces of greenery and tied large rustic bells to the wreath with twine. In the beginning I was going to paint the star and bells red, but I like it just like this! For a western style wreath I used a 16" grapevine wreath and cut the top out with a saw to make a horseshoe. I added a bow at the bottom and pieces of greenery. The twig balls were in a package which I bought years ago. I thought the little twig balls would be cute with the twig wreath, so I spray painted them red and used hot glue to attach. I drew the horse on plywood, cut it out on the scroll saw and painted it red. I wrote "Howdy Y'all!" with a white paint pen. I used hot glue to attach it to the wreath. What i...

I wanted to incorporate the Star in Ring into a Christmas wreath and was going to use green garland, but decided to use a lariat rope instead. I tied the rope onto the ring with leather lace and tied on horseshoes and a spur. This looked kind of messy to me. So I took everything off and started again. I wrapped the rope with jute twine at the top and on each side and tied it tight. It is holding the Star in Ring at the top of the rope. I stuck Small Star Nails into the twine and you may want to add some hot glue. The tasseled rope at the top was from another project and I placed it behind the star nail. Add a little glue here too. It is just a piece of lariat rope unraveled and wrapped with leather lace. I added a burlap bow with pine cones to the bottom. Leave that off for year round and decorate for other holidays accordingly. Have fun!

Here are some ways to use our Lariat Baskets for Western Style Holiday Décor. Place Autumn branches, pine cones and twig balls in a basket and add a jute bow for Fall or Thanksgiving décor. For a rustic Christmas add pine branches, berry branches, pine cones, twig balls and an antler to a lariat basket. Instead of a burlap bow on the outside, I made a big bow tied with wire and placed it inside the basket. Add pine cones and greenery or fruit, nuts and snacks for a great gift basket. Make a Lucky Christmas Basket by adding one of our horseshoes. You could add a Cross Nail to a basket. Paint it, rust it or leave it natural. I'm sure you can come up with many ideas of your own. Making a wreath with a Lariat Rope is easy. Use wire to tie on greenery. I watched a few videos on the internet on how to make a burlap bow. The red stripe is on one side of the burlap ribbon so when I made the bow I twisted each loop so that the stripe showed on the outside. Then I tied on boot ornaments from the dollar store. You could decorate a rope in a multitude of ways and colors for any holiday or occasion.
